Video of the Gurney Drive Christmas Celebration in Penang

Just a few days ago my sister sent me some videos of the notorious Christmas celebrations at Gurney Drive. Some of the videos were a bit sad because they had people fighting but there was one video that I embarrassingly found funny.

This is it.

Before you watch this video, remember to pay attention to these things

1) Throughout the whole lecture they were getting from the man, the youths with the aerosol cans kept shaking it. As if getting ready to spray more.

2) Man gets back in car (the crowd starts cheering) and car starts moving again. That's when the scene that cracked me up came.

3) As the car advances, the cameraman points to the back of his car where you can see like an entire platoon of "sprayers" cooking up what looked like an friggin snow storm on the guy's car. Then when the car stopped again everyone totally stopped. That scene cracked me up so hard!

I thought it was interesting how the crowd reacted. While they were being scolded everyone was quiet like students being given a scolding by a school teacher. Notice though that while he was giving the scolding, none of the youths answered back or anything probably out of respect for the uncle. I mean had it been another youth in the car instead of the uncle a fight would probably have broken out but I guess we Malaysians still have it instilled in us to respect the elders and not answer back when being scolded (especially when we know we're the ones causing the trouble haha).

As soon as the "teacher leaves", they get back to doing what they were doing before.

The behavior from these group of people is enough to "kill" the entire penangite name... So sad that the youth of penang turns out to be like this.

Sadly, Boss Stewie, I don't find it funny. :( It's alarming to see what will the society become if the youth carry on with such attitude.

hahah that's quite terrible!

It's quite disturbing actually as it happens every year and only in Penang. FRU was deployed during the last Christmas.

Penang teenagers nowadays... :P

eve, genova, star sky: hey guys. yeah i didn't feel as negative to this particular video maybe because i saw some other videos before this that were more depressing. the crowd was doing all sorts of things like beating up people or throwing bottles at a passing by police car. the kind of thing that i think really gives a bad name to not just penangites but kl people.

ky: haha yeah man

jason: is it only penang that this happens in?

Lol. I think we should blame the youth alone. Knowing that this will happen, the uncle still drove pass that road. Isn't that stupid? I find that snow is still acceptable but now cans or color spray. I remember last time when I was there, there was a Merc Convertible which opened the roof so that we can "party" with them. That was quite cool. Sometimes, if we can't party, don't go. And yes, I agree Penang youth is getting out of control.
